How Foil Is Applied on Fabric
First an adhesive layer is applied — via screen or a compatible transfer base. Then foil is laid and fixed with a heat press: metal sticks only to the adhesive, excess is peeled away. The result is mirror or matte shine with crisp edges. Quality depends on base accuracy, temperature, and pressure. Ultra-thin lines and tiny type need artwork checks before a run. The cleaner the adhesive outline, the neater the shine and the lower the risk of a torn edge after weeding foil.
Foil Types and Visual Effects
Classics are glossy and matte gold, silver, rose gold. Holographic and chameleon shift color in motion — strongest on dark fabrics. You can combine several foil types on one garment, but each layer complicates production. Strict brand styles often pick matte gold; event merch — holographic. We will advise which effect reads on your garment model. Choosing matte versus glossy metal is better on real fabric, not only on screen.
When Foiling Is Worth It
Best scenarios: limited drops, gift tees, VIP hoodies, an accent logo on black or burgundy. Foil poorly replaces full-color illustrations — it is about shine and status, not photo printing. If you need both art and metal, we combine DTF or screen with foiled elements. For everyday workwear shine may be excessive: we discuss the brief before quoting. If the goal is daily uniform, discuss an alternative: sometimes dense matte looks more premium than constant glitter.
Durability and Proper Care
With careful washing a foiled print usually lasts 30+ cycles. Wash inside out at 30°C, no bleach or hard abrasion. Do not iron on foil or dry on high heat. Common damage causes are rough spin and rubbing against coarse fabrics. We warn about care at handover: the premium look holds if simple rules are followed. A separate wash note for foiled pieces cuts complaints after the first weeks of wear.
Artwork and Prep for Print
A vector logo with clean outlines is ideal. Avoid ultra-thin strokes and tiny text — shine "eats" detail. On light fabric the effect is weaker than on dark; sometimes strengthen contrast with shape, not only foil color. Choice Print checks artwork free and suggests where to simplify geometry. If there is no file — describe the idea at @dkretov, we will prep a foil-ready base. Vector with closed paths speeds prep and cuts manual fixes before launch.
Ordering Foil at Choice Print
Send run size, foil color, and garment model to +998 90 349 03 64 or Telegram @dkretov. We will quote and, if needed, make a sample on your fabric. We print from small batches; exact minimum depends on how the base is applied. Delivery across Tashkent. Foil is not "magic shine on everything" — it is a controlled premium accent for a specific design. A sample is especially useful when foil is first applied to an unfamiliar hoodie or tee model.
Summary
Foil makes a print look more expensive and works best on dark apparel and limited drops. The keys are clean artwork and gentle care. Choice Print will help pick foil type and a combo with screen or DTF for your project in Tashkent.
